Storz Medical Radial Shockwave Revision Kit: Everything you need to know!

Regular maintenance of your Storz Radial Shockwave device is essential to ensure it delivers consistent and effective treatments. Due to the nature of Shockwave therapy, some components of the unit wear out. The most common upkeep on a radial shockwave is the revision kit located in the Falcon or Ultra handpiece of your Storz Medical device.
Revision kits typically last up to one million pulses. With proper maintenance, they can often last longer while still delivering excellent performance, though this depends largely on how consistently they are cleaned.
One of the key advantages of owning a STORZ Medical radial shockwave device is how quickly the revision kit can be replaced. In most cases, it takes only minutes, resulting in virtually no downtime for your clinic. Even if a replacement is needed during a treatment session, it can be done immediately on the spot, unlike many competing systems on the market. This is why we always suggest clinicians to have a spare revision kit on hand at all times.
How do I know when to change the Revision kit?
A new Revision kit is designed to last for 1 million hits. With routine maintenance, your revision should be able to get more hits without compromising the treatment quality.
Here are some telltale signs that your revision kit may need replacement:
- During the treatment you notice the frequency of the pressure waves changes/stutters/skips.
- You notice the bullet is sticking in the tube.
- The pulses from the radial pressure wave device does not feel / sound consistent.
- When physically inspecting the metal bullet you notice there is a fair amount of wear comparing to a newer bullet.
If you are experiencing of these indications above, your first step is to use the cleaning brush and follow the steps to clean the tube and projectile. These can be found in your manual or when you were taught during your inservice with Remington Medical.
If this does not change anything, then a new revision is most likely necessary. Putting in a fresh Revision kit gives you peace of mind as a clinician that you are delivering quality treatments.
What does a STORZ Medical Revision kit contain?

Wait! Now that I have diagnosed my issue, What is the difference between the Ultra and Falcon revision kit?
The STORZ Ultra revision kit is the original option designed for older Storz devices and features a longer design compared to the Falcon revision kit. The Falcon revision kit was introduced later alongside the newer Falcon handpiece, allowing treatments to be delivered at lower pressures down to 0.3 bar. It is the shorter of the two options and majority of modern Storz units use the Falcon revision kit.
Do I need a Falcon or Ultra Revision kit for my Shockwave?
The quick and easy way is to measure your exisiting tube.
- The Falcon Revision kit tube measures 14.6 CM
- The tube in the Ultra Revision kit measures 17.5 CM
The Falcon Revision Kit
If you have a Duolith SD1 Radial shockwave, the Masterplus ONE, or the newer versions of the Masterplus® shockwave (the MP50 Ultra, MP100 Ultra, MP200 Ultra, Masterpuls Ultra+ or the D-ACTOR ® 100), you may have either the Ultra or Falcon handpiece depending on when you purchased the unit.
- If your handpiece can go down to .3 bars you have a Falcon handpiece and will need a Falcon revision kit

See the images below. If your handpiece matches the one on the left, featuring a chrome ring on the barrel, you will need the Ultra revision kit. The handpiece on the right is the Falcon version, which does not have the ring.
The Ultra Revision Kit
Another way to determine what kit is right for your unit is by the handpiece. If your handpiece is the older style and is either GREY and BLUE or Grey on Grey with a chrome body, then you require the ULTRA Revision kit.
These handpieces were coupled with the first Masterpuls ® MP50, MP100, and MP200 ELITE units. These devices were either Grey or blue with a square-shaped design (see below).
For the Masterpuls ONE portable shockwave device which uses the Sparrow Handpiece shown below, the correct replacement is the Falcon revision kit. This unit is designed with the Falcon handpiece, which operates at lower pressure ranges and requires the shorter Falcon-style revision kit for proper performance and compatibility.
I have a Chattanooga RPW Shockwave and it uses the same handpiece as STORZ devices. Will your revision kits work on my device?
Yes, certain Chattanooga Shockwave devices such as the RPW and RPW2 use the STORZ handpiece. The revision kits will fit into these handpieces. Please follow the above steps as they will be the same in determining which kit is right for your unit
How do I change over the Revision kit?
